Steelhead Fishing
If you want to catch steelhead, let us take you on
one of our drift boats for a fun filled day with one of our professional
guides. Steelhead fishing is our specialty during the Fall, Winter and
Spring, these ocean run rainbow trout range from 25'' to 40" and will
reach 20 Lbs. Come see for yourself why the Indians called it "Big Fish
Water". February and March offer great wildlife viewing while fishing
for Steelhead you will see grazing Elk, Big Horn Sheep, Eagles and Deer
in the spectacular setting of the canyon. Call anytime for fishing
conditions and availability.
Trips for both novice and experienced fishermen,
customized to your needs and abilities. All of our trips are guided in
drift boats, lunch, G-Loomis rods and all steelhead fishing equipment
provided along with a propane heater for your comfort. Fly fishing is
encouraged early in the season. Our season starts mid September and
extends through March, please feel free to call for current conditions.
This trip is our most popular Steelhead trip, we launch at
several different boat ramps around Riggins Idaho but usually 10 to 30 miles
from town and out of the crowds.
Green Canyon "Lower Gorge" Steelhead Fishing
If you are
looking for a different Idaho guided fishing trip than next to the road either
Hwy 95 or above
Riggins, this is what your looking for get below everyone in
Green Canyon. This section is 11 miles from Whitebird to Pine Bar, the fishing
can be better early and less ice in the colder months. This is a great choice
for those who have been fishing for steelhead around Riggins Idaho and are
looking for some new scenery. We have lodging packages with the Whitebird
Summitt Lodge for a great sportsman's getaway. There is however a bit more
shuttling required for this adventure but it is well worth the extra $20.00.

Chinook Salmon
Spring
Chinook on the Salmon River from May to the end of June can offer big
bright King Salmon just a few miles from Riggins Idaho. Fishing in the
spring is usually a warm and beautiful time in the canyon although unpredictable
water flows can vary the ability to fish safely, we usually get a few weeks the
first of May of great fishing and then back on the river as the water drops and
clears the first of June. If you are looking to get in on these big fish
it's best to call and get on the list early and we will keep you informed of the
conditions.
Small Mouth Bass
Fishing
As our
water warms throughout the summer the smallmouth bass become the sport
fish of choice. Our small mouth make up for there size (1 to 4 Lbs.)
with their heart, one of the best fighting fish for there size you will
find anywhere. If your an avid angler or novice this is great fun to add
to your summer vacation. The warm crystal clear water creates ideal
conditions for the bass and the angler who is looking to enjoy the
beauty of the Salmon River Canyon. This adventure can be combined with
rafting and or horseback riding combinations for a complete summer
vacation for your family. 30 to 40 fish days are not uncommon.

Hells Canyon
The
Snake River through Hells Canyon is a Sportsman's paradise. This river
is full of fish! Guests fish for rainbow trout, small mouth bass,
steelhead and sturgeon! Our fishermen spin cast or fly fish with
incredible success.

Camp
Our camps
offer comfort to all, from the tents, sleeping bags, self-inflating pads
and pillows, to the tables and chairs to the hot showers, we have
overlooked nothing. Mountain River Outfitters provides everything but
your clothes and toiletries. But, more important, Mountain River

Fly Fishing on the Salmon River
If you are an experienced fly fisherman and would
like to catch Steelhead on the fly we have day trips during the early
part of the season (late Sept. and October). The 3 day Hells Canyon Cast
and Blast has many opportunities for the fly fisherman for trout,
steelhead and bass.
During the summer months we have fly fishing
instruction and casting lessons for bass and trout fishing on some spring
creeks and tributaries close to Riggins, Idaho.
